1794 CANANDAIGUA TREATY COMMEMORATION

This collection of memories of the 2005 Canandaigua Treaty Commemoration
is dedicated to all that have served on the Treaty Commemoration Committee,
and countless others who continue to actively support, remember
and honor the Canandaigua Treaty of 1794.

Peace and friendship are hereby firmly established, and shall be perpetual,
between the United States and the Six Nations.

So states the first article of the Treaty of Canandaigua.
A treaty that to this day, although strained at times, is still recognized by all parties.
The following pictures record some of the people and events of the 2005 Treaty Commemoration.

Long before the venders begin to arrive the people responsible for the food preparation are hard at work getting lunch and dinner ready. Next the rest of the Treaty committee and volunteers arrive and get the committee tables set up for the day. These tables will display Treaty information, items for sale and special items that will be raffled off to help pay for the commemoration celebration. Next committee members head to the rock to oversee the setting up of the ceremony site. One by one the vendors arrive and set up their tables, followed by the most important participants the public.

Just before the parade forms everyone has a chance to grab a quick lunch.
